Why I built this

A note from a parent who's been there

Our son didn't say a word for his first 18 months. We didn't know if something was wrong, or what we were supposed to do about it.

What surprised us was that getting help wasn't the hard part. The hard part was finding the right information and knowing what to say — which office to call, what to ask for, and how to explain our concerns. We almost didn't start at all because we assumed it would be expensive. It wasn't. We never needed insurance and never paid a dollar out of pocket — a speech therapist came to our home and worked with our son, completely free. In every state the evaluation is free, you don't need a referral or diagnosis to ask for one, and services cost little or nothing (many states charge nothing at all).
